How a Roofed Deck Changes How You Use Your Backyard
An open deck is great on a mild May morning, but once summer hits, that unshaded floor gets too hot for bare feet. Adding a solid roof overhead turns an exposed flat surface into a true outdoor room. Because a roofed addition attaches directly to your house framing, it has to be constructed properly. You can't just slap rafters onto an existing flat frame and call it a day. It requires proper load-bearing footings, ledger connections, and roof tie-ins that channel water away from your siding rather than into it. We manage the structural planning, draw up the prints, and handle the local Stilwell permits and HOA paperwork so the project moves forward cleanly.
HOW IT WORKS
How We Take Your Build from Draft to Done
Initial On-Site Assessment: We visit your house to inspect the existing structure, check your foundation lines, look at rooflines and eaves, and measure the space. We also check solar angles to figure out the right roof pitch and overhang depth for maximum shade.
Design and Material Selection: Together, we choose materials that match your house, from composite deck boards and aluminum railings to tongue-and-groove ceilings, ceiling fans, recessed lighting, and matching shingles.
Framing and Construction: Our crew sets footings below the frost line, erects support posts, ties the framing into your house, and builds out the roof structure using structural fasteners built for high wind uplift.
Final Walkthrough: Once construction wraps up, we walk the space with you to check every seam, post, and light fixture. We clean up the site completely and answer any care questions before handoff.
