What Stone and Masonry Work Actually Does for Your Yard
A great patio or walkway changes how you use your outdoor space. But before any stone gets laid, the ground beneath it needs serious attention. Johnson County soil expands when wet and shrinks when dry, which is why poorly prepped pavers end up sagging or shifting after a single winter. Our crew handles the necessary grading, deep excavation, crushed aggregate base compaction, and drainage installation before setting a single block.
Whether you need a heavy-duty retaining wall to hold back a sliding slope, a solid paver patio for grilling, or a smooth stone walkway from the driveway to the back gate, we build it from the subbase up. Good stonework shouldn't just look clean on day one—it needs to sit solid ten years later without pooling water near your foundation or pulling away from the house.
HOW IT WORKS
From First Walkthrough to the Final Checklist
First Visit and Site Check - We come out to look at your yard's slope, check soil drainage, measure the area, and talk through how you want to use the space. We also check property lines and access points for heavy equipment.
Design and Materials - Next, we help you pick out the right materials—interlocking pavers, natural flagstone, structured concrete block, or wall systems. We map out a clear layout and provide an estimate covering work and material costs.
Excavation and Build - Once permits are secured, our crew digs out the site, sets the base material, installs drainage pipe where needed, and compacts everything in layers. Then we lay the stone, set edge restraints, and sweep in joint sand.
Walkthrough - We walk the completed job together. We inspect every level line, joint, step, and drainage outlet with you to make sure everything meets our standards and yours.
